The characters in my book are diverse and unique, the author did a great job to make them seem like real people. The character Thea stand out the most, mainly because I can relate to here a lot. Her personality is that she's sad and finds no joy in her life as a slave.

"I opened my wrist with one firm stroke of the knife, watching with interest as the blood leaped out of the vein. My wrists were latticed with knife scars, but i still found the sight of my own blood fascinating. There was always the element of danger: After so many years, would I finally get careless and cut too deep? Would this be the day I watched my young life stream away into the blue pottery bowl with the nice frieze of nymphs on the side? The thought much brightened a life with minimum excitement." (pg 1)
As the story goes on we learn she why she cuts and she's smart, nice, sweet, and innocent, she meets her husband but her mistress sold her so she can have him herself. After all that she was sold into prostitution where her pimp tried to make her lose the baby.
"After Lepida Pollia discarded me like a stained dress, I'd gritted my way through three months in a waterfront brothel. Three months of sweating grunting men: endured until they finished, forgotten as soon as they left me. My growing belly saved me; my pimp forced potions into me to make the child slip, but I vomited them up."
This shows us more that she's strong and brave enough to try to keep her child knowing that she could be sold and be separated from here baby. After that she continues to show her strength and courage, through the book from being torture from the empire and almost being killed. She finally got her happy ending.
"Nessus had been looking more and more like his old self. He'd come up to me just yesterday, pressed my hand, and told me my baby was going to be a girl. "The first of a whole mess of them," he said. "Red-haired and horrible; won't you have fun? Good luck, m'dear." Kissing my cheek. A girl, I'd like a girl. A daughter born in Brigantia. "What?" Arius caught my smile. "Later." No use telling him until the journey was over- he'd fret terribly. "Can I borrow your knife?" "Why?" I plucked it out of its sheath at his waist, and pricked my wrist in one smooth motion. He whipped it out of my hand. "Thea-" "No, that's all." Smiling, I held my hand over the rail and shook a single drop of blood into the Tiber before pressing the cut closed. "Last time." He looked at me. "I swear." Holding up my hand in pledge. He took my wrist, blocking the trickle of blood with his hard thumb. He wound his free hand deep in my hair and kissed me. I lifted my head, dizzy and laughing, and saw the sea. I hadn't even noticed that we'd left Rome behind."
I chose the song "It's Still A Dark Night" EXO cover
It matches with the ending on how you should over come the dark and be happy and live in the future. Turn on CC so you can see the lyrics
