Why do I read? (Post 1)
When I first started to read I did not like it at all. From 1st- 3rd grade during reading time I took naps and the teacher never thought of it and let me do that. I was even out put into special reading groups and I still had no interest in reading. In the 6th grade did I finally start to read, I found this huge book but the cover looked nice so I picked it up. Then after reading I found out I can relate to the main chacters and the plot made me forget my life stuggle for a bit. When I read I always wanted to be the main chacrter. They were confident, beuatiful, smart, and brave, me being the totally oppsite of that I can only dream of what they can do in the books. My all time favorite book in the word is Mistress of Rome By Kate Quinn. The main chacater is the number one person who is like me but a bit more. Thea is a slave and goes through the hardship of being abused meantallity, sexually, physical, and emotinoaly. She still fought through it all even throught the cutting and losing her husband, she became a singer and even became the Mistress of the Empoer. In the end of the book there is a happy ending and I love that. Like her I fight thorugh the struggles from home and school and my own mind, she reminds me why I read to get away from all of that. Or better yet she how they slove the problem and see if I can to. Thats my reason why I read to escape from life and into a world where I can be free and happy
